To romanticize life is to know why any person ever wanted to create art. These words by Carol Marie are the ones that inspire the poetry found within her songs. Raised on Weston Road in Toronto, Carol Marie has always had a passion for classical literature. With the background of the skyscrapers and city lights, she is inspired by life, desire, and the beauty of Art itself. Some of her biggest inspirations include Drake, Frank O’Hara, Igor Oro, Elvis Presley, and Justin Vernon as well as music from the 50’s era. Music has been a part of her life ever since her preschool years through vocal class and daycare performances, and it blossomed into a passion for playing the guitar and piano. Her favourite poets and artists all have one thing in common; the words are expressed beautifully and deeply. As she writes poetry into her songs, she continues to be inspired by the casual affairs of everyday life around her. Growing up on Weston Road, she learned about the beauty of living life in the moment, and cities like Paris, Athens, Florence, and Toronto continue to inspire her to romanticize life through music.
