Leslie Pearl is an American pop singer-songwriter born in Pennsylvania on July 26, 1952. She wrote hits for Crystal Gayle, Karen Carpenter, Kenny Rogers, Johnny Mathis, and Dr. Hook, among others. She also did lyrics and music on the famous song by Karen Carpenter, "My Body Keeps Changing My Mind". She recorded two albums, the first, "Pearl" with singer (sister) Deborah Pearl on London Records, scoring a chart hit on her second with the RCA Records single, "If the Love Fits Wear It". The song peaked at number 28 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, number 25 Cash Box and number 7 on the Adult Contemporary chart in 1982. She also wrote and sang jingles for Pepsi, Folgers Coffee, Ford, Gillette and others. It also charted on the Canadian Adult Contemporary chart, reaching #16, and in Ireland, where it peaked at #23. Composed in 1984, Pearl's Folger Coffee jingle been transformed into country, gospel, jazz, R & B, folk, Celtic, and a cappella versions and Folgers runs an annual contest to find the best new interpretation.
