Lionel Hampton was an American jazz vibraphonist, percussionist, bandleader, and actor. He was known for his energetic performances and virtuosic skills on the vibraphone. Hampton formed the Lionel Hampton & His Septet, a jazz ensemble that consisted of seven musicians, including Hampton himself. Together, they were known for their dynamic and swinging sound, combining elements of big band and small group jazz.
