Prince, whose full name was Prince Rogers Nelson, was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and actor. He was widely regarded as one of the greatest musicians of his generation and was known for his eclectic style, flamboyant stage presence, and virtuosic musical abilities. Prince's music spanned multiple genres including funk, pop, rock, R&B, and soul. Some of his most famous songs include "Purple Rain," "Kiss," and "When Doves Cry." He released numerous critically acclaimed albums throughout his career and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Prince passed away on April 21, 2016.
