The group consisted of tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine and the trio known as the 3 Sounds, comprised of pianist Gene Harris, bassist Andrew Simpkins, and drummer Bill Dowdy. Together, they created a unique and soulful blend of jazz, highlighting Turrentine's melodic saxophone playing and the trio's rhythmic accompaniment.
