About Save Room

"Save Room" is a song by American recording artist John Legend, taken from his second album, Once Again (2006). A joyful love song, it was written by Legend along with will.i.am, Jessyca Wilson, Buddy Buie, and James B. Cobb, Jr. and built along a sample of Gábor Szabó's version of the Classics IV hit "Stormy" which was brought in by frequent collaborator Kanye West. Production was helmed by both Legend and will.i.am. Released as the album's first single, "Save Room" became a top 10 hit in Italy and the Netherlands while reaching the top 20 in the Flemish region of Belgium and on Billboard's US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. In the United Kingdom, the single received a digital only release and chart rules at that time prevented it from charting. A critical success, the song was also nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. The song's accompanying music video, directed by Bryan Barber, was shot in various locations in New York City and features Legend in relations with several different women. He is seen trying to stay in relationships with the women but having trouble doing so. "Save Room" later appeared in films such as Nancy Meyers's It's Complicated (2009) and Glenn Ficarra and John Requa's Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011).

Say that you'll stay a little
Don't say bye bye tonight
Say you'll be mine
Just a little of bit of love
Is worth a moment of your time
Knocking on your door just a little
So cold outside tonight
Let's get the fire burning
Oh, I know, I keep it burning right
If you stay, won't you stay stay

[Chorus]
Save room for my love
Save room for a moment to be with me
Save room for my love save a little
Save a little for me
Won't you save a little
Save a little for me oh

This just might hurt a little
Love hurts sometimes when you do it right
Don't be afraid of a little bit of pain
Pleasure is on the other side
Let down your guard just a little
I'll keep you safe in these arms of mine
Hold on to me pretty baby
You will see I can be all you need
If you stay, won't you stay stay

[Chorus]

(Pa-ya-pa-pa) (Pa-ya-pa-pa) (Pa-ya-pa-pa) (Da-da-da)

Oh come on

Make time to live a little
Don't let this moment slip by tonight
You never know what you are missing until you try
I'll keep you satisfied
If you stay, won't you stay stay

[Chorus]

(Fading)
Save room for my love
Save room for a moment to be with me
Save a little, save a little for me
Won't you save a little
Save a little for me oh
