Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) are a British New Wave group formed in 1978, whose founding members, Andy McCluskey (vocals, bass guitar) and Paul Humphreys (keyboards, vocals), are originally from the Wirral Peninsula, England. The band rose to fame with their fourth single "Enola Gay", which became a major hit throughout Europe in 1980, and achieved worldwide popularity the following year with their third album Architecture & Morality. Regarded as the band's seminal work, it spawned three international hit singles and propelled them to superstar status in their home country. OMD, whose music frequently eschewed traditional pop music arrangements in favour of experimentation, were retrospectively described by AllMusic's Ned Raggett as having been… more »

I believe that this nation
Should commit itself to achieving the goal
Of landing a man on the moon
And returning him safely to the earth.
Ten,
Nine,
Ignition sequence starts.
Six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One,
Zero...
All engines thrust...
Lift-off! We have a lift-off -- 32 minutes past the hour...
Three hundred and sixty-three feet of gleaming flight equipment
Being pushed up
Through the blue skies above...
Hello, Neil and Buz -
I copy to you by telephone
From the Oval Room of the White House.
For every American,
This has to be the proudest day of our lives....
Neil Armstrong, Buz Aldrin (sp?), Mike Collier (sp?)...
Buz Aldrin, Neil Armstong, Mike Collier...
Buz Aldrin, Mike Collier....
This is Apollo control...
Twenty-seven thousand feet per second.
We confirm ignition, and the rest is 'go'.
Everything is 'go'.
This is Apollo control, at eleven hours, twenty-nine minutes.
Apollo control, at twenty-two hours, forty-nine minutes.
Eagle, you're looking great; altitude still looking very good...
Altitude one-hundred thousand...
Altitude forty thousand...
Now thirty-three thousand five-hundred feet...
Altitude now twenty-one thousand feet.
Still looking very good...
Altitude thirteen thousand feet...
Still looking very good...
Eagle, you're looking great...
Fourteen-hundred feet...
Altitude two-hundred feet...
Eagle, you're looking great...
The Eagle has landed!
It was beautiful from here!
You got a bunch of guys about to turn blue -
We're breathing again.
That's one small step for man,
One giant leap for mankind...
That's one small step for man,
One giant leap for mankind...
Don't forget the depressurization.
That's one small step for man,
One giant leap for mankind...

One small step for man,
One giant leap for mankind...
We're reading you loud and clear...
That's one small step for man,
One giant leap for mankind...
This is the time of rejoicing...
This is the time of rejoicing...
In New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles
This is the time of rejoicing...
Ticker-tape parades...
This is the time of rejoicing...
This is the time of rejoicing...
This is Apollo control...
This is Apollo control...
This is Apollo control...
One giant leap
For mankind.
