About Overcome

"Overcome" is a song written and performed by Creed. At the time of its release, it was their first single since 2002 and the first from their 2009 reunion album, Full Circle. To date, it is their 11th song to reach the top five on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart."Overcome" was said to be written in reference to an event where rapper T. I. had saved Creed lead singer Scott Stapp from committing suicide, but Stapp said in Loudwire's Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction interview that it was actually about his desire to overcome the struggles and the demons that he had been fighting for many years. In his uncensored memoir, "Sinner's Creed", the full story of this so called "suicide attempt" is written in great detail.

Don't cry victim to me
Everything we are and used to be is buried and gone
Now its my turn to speak
Its my turn to expose and release whats been killing me

I'll be dammed fighting you, it's impossible, impossible!
Say goodbye, with no sympathy!

I'm entitled to overcome
Completely stunned I'm numb
Knock me down throw me to the floor!
There's no pain I can't feel no more
I'm entitled to overcome, overcome

Finally see whats beneath
Everything I am and hope to be
Cannot be lost

I'll be dammed fighting you
You're impossible, impossible!
Say goodbye with no sympathy!

I'm entitled to overcome
Completely stunned I'm numb
Knock me down throw me to the floor
There's no pain I cant feel no more
I'm entitled to overcome, overcome!

(Overcome!) You'll never know what I was thinking before you came round
Take a step, take a breath, put your guard down
(Overcome!) I cannot worry anymore of what you think of me
I may be crazy but I'm buried in your memory

I'm entitled to overcome
Completely stunned I'm numb
Knock me down throw me to the floor
There's no pain I cant feel no more

I'm entitled to overcome
Completely stunned I'm numb
I'm entitled to overcome
Completely stunned I'm numb
I'm entitled to overcome
I may be crazy but I'm buried in your memory
