The Soft Boys

The Soft Boys were a pop band during the punk era led by Robyn Hitchcock, whose initially old fashioned music style of psychedelic/folk-rock became part of the neo-psychedelia scene with the release of Underwater Moonlight. The band formed in 1976 in Cambridge, England as Dennis and the Experts comprising Robyn Hitchcock (guitar), Rob Lamb - half brother of Charlie Gillett - (guitar), Andy Metcalfe (bass), and Morris Windsor (drums). Alan Davies replaced Lamb after only four gigs late in 1976, and Kimberley Rew replaced Davies. Matthew Seligman replaced Metcalfe in 1979. The band broke up in 1980 after Underwater Moonlight. Well you were the one that made me feel so natural
Right between your teeth just like a piece of toast, toast!
And you treated me as more than just an animal
'Cause you knew that I would rather be your ghost

And you were the one that understood the tennis ball
And you were the one that came to me in chains
'Cause you wanted to be touched by something magical
And the only thing you knew was in your drains

Have a heart (Oh, yeah baby)
Have a heart (come groove with me in the spiritual kingdom of love)
Have a heart (that is, you and I could have a good time)
Betty, I'm not fireproof

Well the friction is delicious but it's challenging
And the chapel is expanding in the park
You're the kind of girl that really does need bandaging
A police car with its tongue out in the dark

And the foliage is howling without symmetry
And I ain't got no asbestos anymore
'Cause you move me up and down into infinity
And all you do is lie there on the floor, oh baby now

Have a heart (C'mon, give me your love in bushels, baby)
Have a heart (sweetly smother me with your softly)
Have a heart (sheltering seas)
Betty, I'm not

Have a heart
Have a heart
Have a heart
Betty, I'm not F-I-R-E-proof!

'Cause you knew that I would always be your ghost

And you were the one that came to me in flames
And you wanted to be stuffed with something magical
And the cucumber was growing in my frames
Not an everyday transistor piece like James
The fireman doesn't hurt you, but he maims
