About Fight for You

"Fight for You" is a song performed by American recording artist Jason Derulo, released as the fourth single from his second studio album, Future History, on December 2, 2011. The song was written by Derulo, Stevie Hoang, David Paich and Jeff Porcaro, while production was handled by RedOne, BeatGeek and Geo Slam. Musically, "Fight for You" is an urban-pop ballad, that samples the song "Africa" (1982) by American rock band Toto. The lyrics revolve around how Derulo, the protagonist, has "got a girl in his life he isn't ready to let go of just yet". Hoang had originally recorded "Fight for You" for his third independent album, Unsigned (2011) with his original track featuring Iyaz. The song's production and Derulo's vocal performance garnered positive reviews from music critics, however, some criticized its lack of originality. "Fight for You" attained moderate chart success, peaking at number five in Australia, and reaching the top twenty in the United Kingdom. The accompanying music video portrays a fictional relationship between Derulo and his love interest. Derulo performed the song at KDWB-FM's annual Jingle Ball in 2011.

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
Just like the rain down in Africa
It's gonna take some time but I know you're worth fighting for!

I'd fight for you!
Hey babumba
Hey babumba hey
Hey babumba hey
I'd fight for you!
Hey babumba
Hey babumba hey
Hey babumba hey
I'd fight for you!

Friends are cool
But we both know
They don't wanna see us together
Don't wanna loose
What I live for
I'm willing to do whatever

'Cause I don't wanna see you cry (cry)
Give our love another try (try)
I bet we get it right this time (time)
As long as you're prepared to fight (fight)

I don't wanna live another day
Without your body next to me
I'm not gonna let them break us down
'Cause baby I know now!

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
(I'd fight for you)
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
(I'd fight for you)
Just like the rain down in Africa
(I'd fight for you)
It's gonna take some time but I know you're worth fighting for

Let's go!
What they say
It don't even matter
They don't really understand
Without each other
We are barely breathing'
Let's get air in these hearts again

'Cause I don't wanna see you cry (cry)
Give our love another try (try)
I bet we get it right this time (time)
As long as you're prepared to fight
Prepared to fight

I don't wanna live another day
Without your body next to me
I'm not gonna let them break us down
'Cause baby I know now!
Know now know now!

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
(I'd fight for you)
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
(I'd fight for you)
Just like the rain down in Africa (just like the rain, just like the rain, just like the rain)
(I'd fight for you)
It's gonna take some time but I know you're worth fighting for
(I'd fight for you)

Hey babumba
Hey babumba hey
Hey babumba hey
I'd fight for you!
Hey babumba
Hey babumba hey
Hey babumba hey
(Vinino, vinino se pase)

If you got someone that's worth fighting' for
Don't let nobody hold ya down
Let me hear say
Woah (woah)
Oh woah (oh woah)
And if you found someone that's worth dyin' for
That one you can't live without
Let me hear say
Woah (woah)
Oh woah (oh woah)

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
(I'd fight for you)
Just like the rain down in Africa
(I'd fight for you)
It's gonna take some time but I know you're worth fighting for

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
(I'd fight for you)
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
(I'd fight for you)
Just like the rain down in Africa (just like the rain, just like the rain, just like the rain)
(I'd fight for you)
It's gonna take some time but I know you're worth fighting for!
