I am talking, hear the voice of the oppressed
We a move out of bondage, a step by step
I am walking, the shackles get left
Watch the bossman, oppressor
Them a hold them breath

Just cool, I don’t mean no disrespect
But we no fool,
We moving the noose from we neck
Lord, it no easy, cause the peer pressure strong
Still we doing what we doing, nah do nothing wrong

I am talking, hear the voice of the oppressed
We a move out of bondage, a step by step
I am walking, the shackles get left
Watch the bossman, oppressor
Them a hold them breath

Go to school, to learn the golden rule
Go to college, to firm up on the knowledge
Get educated, but, what have we got to show
A student loan bill a eat cash flow

I am talking, hear the voice of the oppressed
We a move out of bondage, a step by step
I am walking, the shackles get left
Watch the bossman, oppressor
Them a hold them breath

To survive, you know how the story go
9 to 5, make another man run fi you show
Fi 40 years, but that’s a whole lot a time
to be building for another
What should rightly be mine

I am talking, hear the voice of the oppressed
We a move out of bondage, a step by step
I am walking, the shackles get left
Watch the bossman, oppressor
Them a hold them breath

Life bitter, wife soon gone out a work
T’would be better, if they paid me what
I really was worth!
T’would be easier, to try to make ends meet
But the two income a keep we off a the street
