About Heaviside

The plot of the musical Cats revolves around a tribe of cats vying to go to the Heaviside Layer, which is used as a metaphor for rebirth. The concept and the corresponding song "Journey to the Heaviside Layer" are based on an unpublished poem fragment by T. S. Eliot. American band Citizen released a track in 2015 named "Heaviside," from their second studio album Everybody Is Going to Heaven. The name refers to the Kennelly–Heaviside layer.

No one knows where the byway leads to
No one knows what it turns into at the end
Meet me down by the black inlet and I'll show you it
I'll show you it

Nails replace the rain, piercing the people to their staves
The sun illuminates such a wonderful display

No one seems to know anyone there
No one knows who they love or how they smile
Where do people go when they need some deliverance?
Deliverance

The blackness fascinates the privileged and the misbehaved
Still, no one has ever walked themselves all of the wayy

Citizen

Citizenship is an allegiance of a person to a state. Each state determines the conditions under which it will recognize persons as its citizens, and the conditions under which that status will be withdrawn. Recognition by a state as a citizen generally carries with it recognition of civil, political, and social rights which are not afforded to non-citizens. In general, the basic rights normally regarded as arising from citizenship are the right to a passport, the right to leave and return to the country or countries of citizenship, the right to live in that country, and to work there. Some countries permit their citizens to have multiple citizenships, while others insist on exclusive allegiance. more »
