Oh, now since you've been gone I've had time to myself
I haven't even tried to find somebody else
When you told me you were leaving you know it almost came as good news
It may sound funny but it's true I think I'm better off with the blues.

Listen, I must admit that I miss you sometimes
Not a day goes by baby that you don't cross my mind
But at the same time I think of all the hell you put me through
And it's the lesser of two evils I guess I'm better off with the blues.

[Chorus]
You know someday I'm gonna wake up and these blues will be gone
And I'll forget about you and the way you did me wrong
But if you had stayed I'd be dead in my tracks
You know I still love you baby but I sho' don't want you back, no no.

Oh, tonight I'm gonna go down to the sad site of town
Sit there by myself and just start pourin' 'em down
And I'll know just what to say when someone asks about you
I'll say, yeah, we had a good time but I think I'm better off with the blues, yeah.

I said woman if I had to choose I think I'm better off with the blues, yeah
