James Travis "Jim" Reeves (August 20, 1923 – July 31, 1964) was an American country and popular music singer-songwriter. With records charting from the 1950s to the 1980s, he became well known as a practitioner of the Nashville sound (a mixture of older country-style music with elements of popular music). Known as "Gentleman Jim", his songs continued to chart for years after his death. Reeves died at age 40 in the crash of a private airplane. I try to sleep to kill the pain
When I wake it's still the same
'Cause I'm living in
This world you left behind

Just like a broken piece of glass
You have swept me aside to pass
Leaving shattered dreams
With a lonely heart and mind

Well here I go again
(Here I go again)
It's just like yesterday
(Just like yesterday
The pain is deep within
My heart to stay

I'm just a fool to sit and cry
Wasting years before I do
In this lonely world
This world you left behind

Well here I go again
(Here I go again)
It's just like yesterday
(Just like yesterday)
The pain is deep within
My heart to stay-ay

I'm just a fool to sit and cry
Wasting years before I die
In this lonely world
This world you left behind
