About I Wanna Come Over

"I Wanna Come Over" is a song written by Richard Berardi and Michael Berardi, and performed by American country music band Alabama. It was first recorded by pop and rock singer Ronnie Spector in 1978 as the B-side of her cover of the Bonnie Tyler song "It's a Heartache". It was released in September 1979 as the first single to feature drummer Mark Herndon from the album My Home's in Alabama. The song represented a number of milestones in the career of the Fort Payne, Alabama-based band. In 1979, Alabama had started to record again after a two-year hiatus (due to a number of legal restrictions with their first recording contract, the now-defunct GRT Records). One of their first recordings following the hiatus was "I Wanna Come Over," which they included on a self-produced album. When released in September 1979, the song was issued on the small MDJ Records. The song entered the Billboard magazine Hot Country Singles chart later that month, eventually becoming their first Top 40 hit. The song peaked at No. 33 in early December.

Is that what time it is
I'm sorry if I woke you with this call
But all this wine is in my head
And I'm so lonely from it all
Don't hang up
Baby hear what I gotta say
We started out such a beautiful story
We just can't end this way

I want to come over I want to love you tonight
I don't care about the time or who's wrong or who's right
Just say it's OK and I'll be on my way
I want to come over could you get outta bed
I'll try to unsay all the things I've said
Please say its OK and I'll be on my way

Is that what time it is
I'm sorry if I'm keeping you from your sleep
But all these feelings are running through me
You know I never knew they ran so deep
What's that you're sayin'
That just before I phoned
You were gettin' ready to give me call
'Cause you were feelin' so alone

I want to come over I want to love you tonight
I don't care about the time or who's wrong or who's right
Just say it's OK and I'll be on my way
I want to come over could you get outta bed
I'll try to unsay all the things I've said
Please say its OK and I'll be on my way
I want to come over
I comin' over
I want to come over
Just let me come over tonight

Alabama

Alabama is a country music and southern rock band from Fort Payne, Alabama, United States. The group, formerly known as "Wildcountry", left Fort Payne and Lookout Mountain to explore the possibilities of the club scene in surrounding coastal South Carolina. The band is often credited with bringing country music groups (as opposed to solo vocalists) into the mainstream, paving the way for the success of today's top country groups. Since i… more »
