A nu metal song, the single was their breakthrough hit and is their second most successful song from the album Hoobastank behind their second hit "Running Away". It reached No. 3 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and No. 7 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.

Hoobastank (often stylized as h∞bastank) is an American rock band, best known for their hit "The Reason". They formed in 1994 in Agoura Hills, California, with singer Doug Robb, guitarist Dan Estrin, drummer Chris Hesse, and original bassist Markku Lappalainen.
