Lyrics:

Fish ain't bitin' but I don't really care and don't hurry
Like that Wabash River there I'd be drinkin'
Or laying dead somewhere if it wasn't for
Fish aren't biting but I don't
Really care and don't hurry
Like that Wabash River there I'd be drinking
Or laying dead somewhere if it
Wasn't for
I was born on the banks of the Wabash River
Been swinging a hammer
Ever since I can remember
Hot days, Long nights
Workin' hard
Trying to do things
and all
The Wabash Cannonball
O'er the Queen of Flowing Rivers
And mighty mountains by the score
On a streamlined combination
The Wabash Cannonball

Can you
Anywhere I chance to roam;
The music on the Wabash that I left behind
Calls me back home.

Oh, how I'd love to see that lazy river,
Stop and hive her my
Anywhere I chance to roam;
The music on the Wabash that I left behind
Calls me back home.

Oh, how I'd love to see that lazy river,
Stop and hive her my
Anywhere I chance to roam;
The music on the Wabash that I left behind
Calls me back home.

Oh, how I'd love to see that lazy river,
Stop and hive her my
Anywhere I chance to roam;
The music on the Wabash that I left behind
Calls me back home.

Oh, how I'd love to see that lazy river,
Stop and hive her my
the candle lights are gleaming,
On the banks of the Wabash, far away.

Many years have passed since I strolled by the river,
Arm in arm, with sweetheart Mary
and I could never say
In the silence Darling let us pray
Let the river take it all away

Oh the river knows your name
From the Brazos to the Wabash
and I could never say
In the silence Darling let us pray
Let the river take it all away

Oh the river knows your name
From the Brazos to the Wabash
the green Ohio Valley
See the Cumberland, the Wabash

On the Tennessee they floated
On great rafts to the Mississippi
And the Cherokee and Shawnee
remember the Red River Valley
(clears throat)
And the boy that has loved you so true

My Bonnie lies over the ocean
My Bonnie lies over the sea
My Bonnie
Way down upon little Mississippi river
Not so far away
That's where my fokes have lived 4 ever
And that's where I'm goin' to stay

I've been
In the dirt

In 32 Ive made my home
On the Wabash county line
I never strayed too far
From the one thing I could call mine

Lightning and rain would
the Wabash
Walk at night, catch a chill
Run together across the river
So easy to feel a thrill

Wild at night, I miss the morning
In this town there is one big
Vengeance our path to glory
Drive the invaders from our land

By the river, see
Soldiers, horses and cannons sleep
Like the shadow, we crawl and creep

I was looking for references to the Wabash River that runs through Indiana, and flows along the border with other states. It's bedrock is limestone from glaciers carving out the lowland which provided wide low and flatness for growing mostly corn, but wheat and soybeans in the developed agricultural areas, and other places of gullies, caves and canyons. But, where it runs across the plains, it flows slow and wide.
