We Believe

We believe in Love that conquers and covers all We believe in the Original Goodness of the human soul We believe there is more of what unites us than divides us We believe in praying with our hands and feet, for this time is ours We believe the sexual assault survivors who have the courage to break the silence We believe the marginalized and oppressed and join them in defiance We believe that black lives do matter, we stand with them in alliance We believe the black mothers who are afraid of their sons being murdered by systemic violence We believe the generations to come deserve a thriving planet We believe that big changes start small, as small as trees being planted We believe the sick who are in need of health care and feel abandoned We believe that we are here to challenge the status quo and raise the standard We believe the refugees who are hoping for a better future for their family and kindred We believe the homeless who are not lazy but often depressed and, by the system, hindered We believe in the sacredness of both women's bodies and their beloved children We believe in the validity of others' lived experiences even if we don't agree with them We believe the sacredness of their self and honor their presence We believe that, eventually, we all come from the same Essence We believe that we are here to change the prevailing systems We believe that we are here to be the prophets carrying blessings Say it with me: We believe in Love that conquers and covers all We believe in the Original Goodness of the human soul We believe there is more of what unites us than divides us We believe in praying with our hands and feet, for this time is ours Yes, we believe, first and foremost, in the OG of humanity The Original Goodness, the Original God-likeness The Original Grace-fullness, and the Original Grandioseness Of the human race that cannot be lost We believe that even if our beliefs don't align with each other's We are still a family - we are still siblings, sisters, and brothers We are prophets, guided by peace and faith, grace and wonder Bringing hope and healing, joy, and justice - sometimes like a whisper, sometimes like a thunder We believe that faith without works is no faith at all Because true faith builds bridges and brings down walls It is the joining of the Divine and the compassionate souls Into a collective whole that on its own would have been too small So, what if we would really believe, instead of just making judgments or being critical Maybe this way we could change the paradigm - ecological, sociological, and political What if that kind of faith could really move mountains and we're living at a moment pivotal For that, we need to boldly live out these principles We believe in Love that conquers and covers all We believe in the Original Goodness of the human soul We believe there is more of what unites us than divides us We believe in praying with our hands and feet, for this time is ours
