Ghost Town

There's a dark place in my head now that I go down When I visit life slows down it's a ghost town There's nothing there yet it speaks so loud My mouth is shut but my mind it screams so loud Now I'm thinking, I'm sitting in my basement watching time go by It's nothing different then the voices get to speaking I throw on music, to try and mute it I can hear the ticking in my brain I gotta crack the code Clicking random buttons to diffuse it I feel like I've been here before, it's in my head telling me There's something on my chest I must address And I think I know what it is All these broken promises I promise it wasn't intentional Wait, that's quite ironic right? Let me get back on track to fact check my spoken words The tracks cracked and sloped upwards The river might flow, but that don't mean my boat still float There's a dark place in my head now that I go down When I visit life slows down it's a ghost town There's nothing there yet it speaks so loud My mouth is shut but my mind it screams so loud Wow, the time has gone fast, as I sit here a mess I guess I could go up and try to get some rest Please, I pray to God tonight is the night I can shut my eyes and turn my brain off Please tell me the deal, can I have just one night where I'm not up 'til the sunlight shines through Thoughts are like a 24/7 drive thru, it's another sleepless night times two Glad you're sleeping while I'm up all night thinking 'bout you I don't understand what it is about you But on a daily basis I practice dealing with the void and the absence of your presence All these stresses, obsessions, internal clashes, causing these nocturnal attacks Gotta bat you outta my attic There's a dark place in my head now that I go down When I visit life slows down it's a ghost town There's nothing there yet it speaks so loud My mouth is shut but my mind it screams so loud The mind is a lonely place, you throw on a song to cope Now you can only hope, everything all works out I promise it always does, that's what they always say But the final chapters creeping up on your back!
