Can this be That I see The miscreation of my own destruction The aberrations of old gods Made by human hands Stories told of jewels and gold Of wars fought and glories bold The emptiness of this world A void I cannot fill Held too tightly they drain Waning color and taste Now every loss is a stain All ideas I seek fade The paint is washed out and grey Were they not born to remain Is earthly prize A secret vice With blinding treasure comes infinite price Adoring the excess of this world Preserving what I cannot keep Impermanent I Invert demands Extract from dirt what cannot stand The constant striving of this state Building empires of wind Clutched too tightly they break Every crack is a snake They tell me to grip it again These pedestals produce a throne Reserved for someone I don't know Now exile is my only home There's nothing wrong I'm in control There's nothing wrong I'm in control I have sought after pleasure at the cost of my soul Thinking that my thoughts would stay in control Now I'm praying for grace that I once denied Because my actions cannot be justified in my pride So let grace abide I rejoice at the loss of the reflections I knew And I pray that someday my soul will be with you Because I feel that I am drowning in the well of my own divinity With only my shadow to walk beside me There is something wrong I'm in control There's nothing wrong I'm in control There's nothing wrong I'm in control There's something wrong I'm in control There's something wrong I'm in control Of me
