(not accurate to album performance) There are these two women And they are on their first date And they're both kind of nervous I guess just because it is a first date But they are walking by Virginia Court And one of them women has the idea to lay her hand on the others And then lace her fingers into the others fingers They keep their hands like this for the rest of the date They walk around and they love this connection so much So much so that they go on more dates and keep doing this hand thing And eventually they just become one In a field we held each other At a bend in the grass you held your grace And let the hair fall down your shape You hate when people are pale and underweight But you swear I'm beautiful in your sight And in the dark I held your shape A dark blue sea takes over me Busy like a station, you step into the wave And we let it bring us back (not accurate to album performance) And these two girls spend the rest of their lives together And when they were younger they visited California They go to a beach in San Diego and they have this locket Which has both of their faces in it, one on each side They throw it into the ocean and they dance and go about their lives But unfortunately, as life goes, one of them dies The other, remembering this locket, goes to that beach and searches for hours and hours She swims and digs but no luck She gives up and lays by the waves Then, all of a sudden, it washes up. The locket! She opens it Only to find that the photo of her partner is missing Only hers is left She just became one with the earth in death
