Read me the passage before i leave again
Slowly so i can try and remember it
Real things in threes they make a tower right?
Or in succession they can become a bridge?
Is this you standing there by its balustrade?
How does one figure out which way to walk?
Oh say it's not so
I guess there are things that even books dont know (yet)
You say that its difficult though to navigate
You feel like youre bad at being feminist
Your hands are placed atop your temples now
I tell you the effort is what is relevant
Youre nodding yes although you disagree
Youre doing your best to not laugh at me
I guess its naive
But better naive than to be without belief right?
Well I want to be honest when it is bad for me
I want to be good when there is no one there
And i wanted to walk away when the acid hit
To be alone while it was coming in
I was seeing the stream like i was in a dream
Was seeing the stream like i was in some...
Some sort of lost scene
Something i wouldve wished for when i was sixteen
I think id wish for wine under the bodhi tree
Or wish to climb to see the sun creep
We watched it fall in Southern Oregon
But i wish it stayed where it horizon-meets
Dan and Lucas in the heroic style
Scorched land stretching on for miles
And one thing i know
That is no country for anyone old
But she was 19 that summer though
And she turned 20 once it was over with
Speaking of Marx like he was biblical
Picket signs for all her arguments
She tells me im wrong about everything
I tell shes right but needs medicine
And then we dont blink
And in our long starring, i almost hear her think:
'I dont want the world to leave a trace of me
I was alive only allegedly'
Well no one will know if you were lying here
If streetlamp light was over everything
The car is parked outside of history
All the talk now is for you and me
So say what you will
As cruel or as sweet and as much as you feel
Just one car left by the basilica
And so much rain its like it ever-was
It's always late when they are getting stoned
And every year the kids are replicas
They change their hair but they are never new
Oh you'll know what i mean if one looks at you:
Then pause for awhile
Then choose to laugh or to lay down and cry
Oh i rest my hand atop the hidden stones
I stack them up by myself alone
I build the bridge of the invisible
Then I walk across til i forget it all:
Didnt the night make everything clear?
Didnt we prove that we were really here?
And what did you say?
The last time i saw you
Did you say you didnt feel the same?
Did you say you felt changed altogether?
Oh i guess i cant rememeber
And what did you say?
The last time i saw you
Did you say you didnt feel the same?
Did you say you felt changed altogether
Oh i guess i cant remember
And what did you say?
The last time i saw you you said:
'I dont want the world to leave a trace of me
I was alive only allegedly'
Well i wont tell if you were lying here
If streetlamp light was over everything
The car is parked outside of history
