Clyde Moody (1915-1989) also known as the "Hillbilly Waltz King" and "The Genial Gentleman of Country Music" was one of the great pioneers of Bluegrass and Country Music. His career started in the late 1930's working with J. E. Mainer's Mountaineers. He joined Bill Monroe in 1939 and begin playing at the Grand Ole Opry. He played a pivotal role as the first guitarist for Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys and set a standard for solid bluegrass rhythm guitar often with strong country/blues influence as well as having mellow strong vocals. Later he would largely remain a solo artist though he would record with the Delmore Brothers as the "Browns Ferry Four" with King Records in 1952 and in 1955 went on a six month tour singing with Elvis Presley. He also played at the first Bluegrass Festival in Fincastle Virginia in 1965
