Born in West Point, New York during the "Summer of Love", 1967, his father was an officer in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Olson has recorded eight albums including "One Room" (Universal), "Red" (LoveCat Music) and "Eternal Bliss" (independent release). Although he primarily plays guitar, he plays most of the instruments on his CDs. In the late 1980s, while still in college, he was in the group Majosha with Ben Folds. He then went on to become a member of the pop group Bus Stop. He has also written and recorded several television commercial jingles including songs for The Hershey Company and Mercedes Benz. His songs have been featured in numerous television shows and movies including Sex and the City, 90210, Friday Night Lights, In America, Scooby-Doo and MTV's The Hills. In 2012, his song "Another Sunny Day" was featured in the movie "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days". Evan is the main composer of music for the show Tech Toys 360, which is an original show on the Velocity cable TV channel. In 2020, his 1999 single "So Much Better" was featured as a mysterious earworm in an episode of the podcast Reply All. Musicians were recruited into a studio to re-create the song which had received radio airplay upon release, based on the guidance of one person who had heard the song on the radio more than 20 years earlier.
