Hero Magnus

Hero Magnus is a 19-year-old songwriter, singer, and performer from the DC area. She's a current freshman at Yale University, and her first official single, Breakfast Table debuted on July 14th, 2018. Her second, Talionic, came out on March 1st. When she returned home from her first original show last February, Hero started two processes at once: recording her songs and performing live. She immediately became a thriving member of the DC music scene, playing everywhere from clubs to coffee shops to art gallery openings. And she worked on Breakfast Table. (Breakfast Table is actually part of a three-song EP available exclusively on Bandcamp. Clocking in at just under ten minutes, the EP is dynamic and sweet, with singer-songwriter flair and indie-rock sensibility.) After releasing Breakfast Table, Hero moved to New Haven to start school and a radio show. She recorded Talionic, her latest single, in the studios of the dorm with Slopate, a fellow student producer & musician. The title means having-to-do-with-the-talion, and the talion is the system of retributive justice, or an eye-for-an-eye. (Hero learned about it in class.) Yale is treating her well so far. She's excited to engage with the city's burgeoning independent music scene, and to learn everything she can as a college freshman.
