John Mueller is an American singer and songwriter from Kansas. He is known best for portraying the late rock and roll musician, Buddy Holly, on an annual musical tribute tour called the Winter Dance Party, which is a tribute to Holly as well as fellow musicians J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson and Ritchie Valens, all three of whom were killed in a plane crash outside Clear Lake, Iowa while on a tour of the same name on February 3, 1959. Musicians Linwood Sasser and Ray Anthony portray Richardson and Valens, respectively. Previously, Jay Richardson, the son of the late J.P. Richardson, portrayed his father on this tour, until his unfortunate passing in 2013. John wrote the song "Hey Buddy" as a tribute to Holly in 1999, later adding lyrics about the elder Richardson and Valens respectively.
