Born and raised in Romania, Mirela Jay studied The Arts School, in her city, where she experienced the first stages, as a singer. She moved to Bucharest at the age of 16, when she applied and was selected to be a component of the most successful post-communism TV Show, called “Stars School” (Scoala Vedetelor), broadcasted on the national public channel, TV Romania. During 3 years, “Stars School” toured all around the country, made albums, received Golden Discs and, the most important of them all, won the First Prize at a very important television festival – Rose D’Or, in Montreux. Mirela Jay moved than to Prima TV where she presented a musical show called « Zona-M », for one year. When she met Elam Jay, her actual husband, who is a Swiss-Moroccan artist and producer, she moved to Switzerland, then to Morocco where the Jay team owned the Universal Music licensee, in the territory. Mirela Jay was featured in hit songs like “Morena”, “Morocco 2010” or “Angelina” along with Elam Jay, but becoming a mom deviated drastically her interest on pursuing a career in music, as being far from her family was not an option. She was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at the end of 2016, when she had no choice but to turn into this “hero” who used love for winning the battle she had to fight. When in the healing process, she was told to close all the “files” left open in the past, music was not a file she could have closed. Part of JAYVIBE Records, the music label that the family owns in Miami, Mirela Jay went back to recording studio, “just for fun” and realized how much music is such a soul healer for her. “Deep in love”, her first single, is a celebration of unconditional love and passion that defines Mirela Jay as a woman and human being. Written and composed by her husband, the song came out amazingly, encompassing “ingredients” that Mirela loves: deep house, ethnic sounds and sensual lyrics. You will most probably feel “Deep in love” is a song that you want to dedicate to your lover. Mirela Jay is currently learning how to produce her own music, taking also piano and Dj-ing classes, with the dream to play her own deep house ethnic sound in all the biggest electronic festivals around the world. Happy with her second chance at life, Mirela Jay intends to make the most out of it!
