Mon Rovîa, whose birth name is Janjay, is a Liberian-born, Tennessee-based singer and songwriter whose music seamlessly blends lyrical indie pop, folk, and traditional African influences. His tumultuous beginnings, born into the Second Liberian Civil War and nearly becoming a child soldier before being adopted by Christian missionaries at age 7, deeply influenced the stories and themes explored through his vulnerable songwriting. After relocating with his adoptive missionary family, Mon Rovîa (also known as Andrew Lowe) spent his developmental years living in various places, accumulating diverse life experiences that contribute to his empathetic musical perspective aimed at providing healing across nations and dialects. Self-described as an "Afro-Appalachian folk artist", Mon Rovîa's stage name pays homage to his birthplace of Monrovia, Liberia.
