Paula Joy Welter’s vivid songwriting and distinctively intricate guitar work draw listeners closer. Her songs share intimate secrets, lessons learned, and experiences cherished. Her independently released debut album, “Morning Light,” produced by Nina Gerber, was released in 1995 and received a a "five-bones" rating in MusicHound's “Folk, the Essential Album Guide.” Welter's second CD, “Still Hidden Places,” was released 10 years later. Both albums continue to receive sporadic airplay on independent radio in the U.S. and most recently, on the BBC. Welter lives in Sacramento, CA. She accompanies her own songs on acoustic guitar — and enjoys accompanying other songwriters improvisationally on cello from time to time. ‘99 winner of SIERRA SONGWRITERS FESTIVAL playoffs; 1993 and 1995 finalist at NAPA VALLEY MUSIC FESTIVAL’S “EMERGING SONGWRITER COMPETITION; honorable mention in ‘96 and ‘97.
