White Velvet starts with Juliette Richards. In 2016, this Norman musician is chosen to be part of an artist-in-residence in Liverpool. To celebrate the 500th birthday of her native city, Juliette Richards aims to develop a musical bond between Le Havre and the British port. The composer records different French and English atmospheres that would later constitute the rhythmic basis of her songs. Juliette Richards introduces her work to the Museum of Modern Arts André Malraux on June 15th 2017, performing at the Clair Obscur exhibition by painter and photograph duo Pierre et Gilles. She decided since then to go by the name White Velvet. The project can be described as “hybrid”, between a solo format and a symphonic ensemble.
