24K Magic (stylized as XXIVK Magic) is the third studio album by American singer Bruno Mars. It was released worldwide on November 18, 2016, by Atlantic Records. Recording sessions for 24K Magic took place between fall 2015 and September 2016 at Glenwood Place Studios in Burbank, California. The production of the album was handled by newly formed production trio Shampoo Press & Curl, consisting of Mars, Brody Brown and Philip Lawrence. The follow-up to Mars's successful second album, Unorthodox Jukebox (2012), 24K Magic explores genres similar to those of its predecessor, such as soul and funk, while Mars and his team focused on capturing the R&B sound that was very popular in the 1990s, described by Mars as the reason he fell in love with music in the first place, taking inspiration from acts such as Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, New Edition, Bobby Brown, Jodeci, Boyz II Men, Teddy Riley, Mariah Carey and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. Mars also stated that although he was able to convince Atlantic Records of the album's sound, they were initially hesitant.24K Magic debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 and number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart where it stayed atop for eight weeks. Five singles were released from the album: "24K Magic", "That's What I Like", "Versace on the Floor", "Chunky", and "Finesse". "That's What I Like" became Mars's seventh number-one song on the US Billboard Hot 100. As of November 2018, 24k Magic was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).24k Magic was ranked second on the Top Billboard 200 Albums - Year-End 2017. As part of promotion for 24K Magic, Mars embarked on his third worldwide concert tour, the 24K Magic World Tour (2017–2018). At the 2018 Grammy Awards, the album won Album of the Year, Best R&B Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, Record of the Year and Song of The Year "24K Magic" and Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song for "That's What I Like".  more »
