The beast's alive and well

We hear pundits shout
Veiled hatreds we can do without
We disagree
And then smolder on our couch
We know just what to say
And say it in just the right way
Without really ever having said a thing
Villains leave their calling card
The heel was just in our front yard
You shake your head
And explain it all away
The devil haunts our every step
Feeding on weakness and neglect
Passing through you
Towards another soul to kill
Take more than you need
And cast your fortunes as you feed
Light a candle
In the temple of yourself
To whom is what now due
As time persists the present view
To find herself alone
Before the window of a void
She then cries herself to sleep
Amidst the masses of the meek
To be possessed herself
Undone among the slaves

To coax the war from within me

Between the heavings of her breasts
What was once The Deal
Has lost its glossy broad appeal
It's to be heaped
Upon the memories of the old
If there had been words to say
They have long since been swept away
Replaced with pregnant silence
Eating at our days
Woes were here pronounced
Intent to settle all accounts
And find some lessons buried
Deep within the pain
Yet how quickly we forget
We fade the source of our regrets
And shake the sense of self
We firstly came to seek
