Relationship hit breaking point, we had to take a break
Look back wondering was it all just a big mistake
She gathered all her belongings and moved up out the house
I had to gather my thoughts, move on without a spouse
She took the kids, left me alone up in an empty crib
Lost and confused not knowing all the wrong that I did
Like how we get to this, I thought we were better than this
Guess I was kinda distracted, something I must've missed
All work left no time for play at the end of the day
I had to try to find balance is what she'd always say
She knew the life I was in, I was a journey man
Shacked up in hotels far away working on distant land
It broke my heart to come home and everybody gone
She send me messages but why she don't answer the phone
I close my eyes to try to figure out what I'm gone do
Pick up the pieces, patch it up and make it like new
It wasn't you, it was me, that what she told me
She was battling demons and plus she miss the old me
I guess we both lost focus, no need to point the finger
We skip the custody battle, didn't put me through the wringer
Kept the court out the picture, we work cordially
And picked the kids up on the weekend like normally
That shit sucks though, we was like the Huxtables
Put our shit out on the table and aired out our troubles
But then something was missing and we became distant
Hard to get each others attention, it used to be instant
We shared a vision but images can get distorted
When we bobble heads all in our phone and blindly support it
And now we act like we forget, we never even listened
Got us arguing and breaking all the dishes in the kitchen
Miss communication, there's gotta be an explanation
Can't go on if this is how we handle every situation
I put my game face on so I can stand strong
I gotta make some changes if I don't want this shit to prolong
It's like things was all good just a week ago
What the hell am I saying, that was almost 2 years ago
The honeymoon phase, yea that was the best stage
Nothing like our last days, that felt like the dark age
We showed our ass out in public, we was the main attraction
Yea, we was over the top, we was just over reacting
We try to change and work together, be on same team
Like ain't no place for us to go but up while we fighting the stream
There's no such thing as immaculate relationships
It's hard to keep a ship afloat when it's constantly taking hits
That's why we keep patch kits, especially if you have kids
Parents always forget they growing up in this madness
And that's the sadness we learn how to live with
Hold it all deep inside like it's nobody's business
