Carla Howell

Carla Howell (born 1955) is an American political activist, small government advocate, songwriter, and recording artist. She is most known for organizing tax-cut initiative petitions in Massachusetts (called ballot measures in other states). She ran for office in Massachusetts for U.S. Senate (2000), Governor (2002), and State Auditor (1998) on the Libertarian Party ticket. Politicians say their programs make things better
But every time they pass one, we're worse off than before
Budgets get bigger
Red tape more tangled
And all they ever want is more and more and more

They say it's for your welfare, then tax at every turn
They tax you when you're working
When you're driving
When you're buying
When you're living
When you're dying
They tax until you burn

Give them your money, or they'll
Threaten to take the things you need away
