Ah, but faster towards we know not where, it might be here but it's probably there
Unless, of course, we left it back at home
As on we sail all over the bounding foam

Just off the coast of Greenland are the islands of Peru
From there it's just a skip and a hop to Boise, Timbuktu
We'll round the Cape of Idaho and hope to find a Texaco
A clean one where we'll stop, and if we dare
Possibly even ask directions there

It might be in the Northern Sea, or off the coast of France
It might be on the desk or in the pockets of my pants
We ought to have checked before we went, or better still, our evenings spent
Studying hard and learning well by rote
What we can't find by sailing this here boat

From icy Tallahassee where the northern winds do blow
To balmy Nova Scotia where the Yangtze River flows
Well you can sail the world around, but such a place will never be found
Unless you care to take the time to look
And open up your old geography book
