Walk on by your freak show second ring
I guess you didn't realize that your birds began to sing
Lion boy wonder is calling up the plan
And following behind him is the circus clown clan

The dollars flowed freely at the main entrance tent
But when the show was over we just couldn't pay the rent
Life isn't easy when you're paid to be a clown
This mind called my memory has shut my circus down

So I called your birds back to sing another round
We sat up in the box seats and I couldn't hear a sound
So desperate for a laugh and to hear the awesome feat
Us clowns knew the answer, the songbirds had to eat

The songbirds sang plenty as the food began to flow
Soon their chirps subsided with their stomachs growing full
Put the pedal to the metal and let the tires rip
Gotta cross that finish line to cruise on toward the strip

They flew north for the winter with our friends forever pact

I won't decide which songbird sings the best
Now we'll never know, but I can take a guess

Flying for north for winter has really got me down
