Habit

A habit (or wont as a humorous and formal term) is a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously. The American Journal of Psychology (1903) defined a "habit, from the standpoint of psychology, [as] a more or less fixed way of thinking, willing, or feeling acquired through previous repetition of a mental experience." Habitual behavior often goes unnoticed in persons exhibiting it, because a person does not need to engage in self-analysis when undertaking routine tasks. Habits are sometimes compulsory. A 2002 daily experience study by habit researcher Wendy Wood and her colleagues found that approximately 43% of daily behaviors are performed out of habit. New behaviours can become automatic through the process of habit format… more »

Twenty-four seven
I've been working overtime
Ain't got that much to show for it
Still had to sell my soul for it
Just to get by
Twenty-four seven
I've been working overtime
Ain't got that much to show for it
Still had to sell my soul for it
Just to get by
Hey yo
What's their motherfuking problem
Staring at me crooked like I'm about to fucking rob them
Yo I might as well, I'm already here so why stop them
Looking at my money, like I got no other option
I know I'm falling, don't you know the world is rotten
Disappointment and failure is the only thing I've ever gotten,
And it leaves me wanting more, Want to feel alive
I'm clocking out of work, just to clock back into life
And I fucking hate it, cuz I never got the time
I never got the money, though I'm always on the grind
Why
Is it me or is it really just the system
If I had the chance I'd fucking wipe it out existence
With no resistance
Fucking do it in an instant
I can see success hiding from me in the distance
Got to go and catch it, I'm pushing all of my limits
Twenty-four hours and I'm counting down the minutes
Twenty-four seven
I've been working overtime
Ain't got that much to show for it
Still had to sell my soul for it
Just to get by
Twenty-four seven
I've been working overtime
Ain't got that much to show for it
Still had to sell my soul for it
Just to get by
Yo what the f*ck
Yo why am I always feeling stressed
Bottling my anger up, it's swelling in my chest
I'm barely getting by, and I'm hardly getting rest
It's a high price to pay, if you want to be the best
But you gotta want it, ready to do the impossible
If I never make it, I'm the only one responsible
So if my heart is fading, turn off the response signal
Cuz I'd rather fucking die, then end up in that fucking carnival
Nine-to-five
The type of job you got to keep
To pay your fucking bills, and not be homeless in the street
So if I die, don't cry, just put me six feet deep
Cuz you have no idea how fucking bad, I want to get some sleep
Twenty-four seven I'm working, and it never ends
Gotta make a choice between family or friends
I ain't got much to show for the money I spent
Yo
Twenty dollars left and still got to pay the rent
Twenty-four seven
I've been working overtime
Ain't got that much to show for it
Still had to sell my soul for it
Just to get by
Twenty-four seven
I've been working overtime
Ain't got that much to show for it
Still had to sell my soul for it
Just to get by
I don't even know what day it is, or what I did yesterday
All I know is God is with me as I stumbled into life today
I don't even know, when I ate the night before
All I know is that I'm phasing, and about to hit the floor
And I already know I won't make it to be old
If I don't switch my behavior up and get some rest for my soul
I'm out of breath and it seems like the world is turning black
Gotta dig for my soul, then reach it and bring it back
Gotta share what it's given to me by the king of kings
Could this be, or am I just imagining things
Yo I know this is hard so I got to stop to breathe
Otherwise when I'm running, I'll be falling to my knees
Cuz I just can't quit, till I make a fucking mark
I just can't quit, till my life comes to a stop
I just won't quit the second coming isn't long
I just won't quit, yo you can hear it in this song
Twenty-four seven
I've been working overtime
Ain't got that much to show for it
Still had to sell my soul for it
Just to get by
Twenty-four seven
I've been working overtime
Ain't got that much to show for it
Still had to sell my soul for it
Just to get by
Twenty-four seven
I've been working overtime
Twenty-four seven
I've been working overtime
