One day I'll know my faith though
All my days I spread no hate though
Just rising up that's what I'm made for
I'll spread some love some love some more

In these trying times I can't just rhyme for the hell of it
Rappers out here cryin just tryin to stay relevant
Politicians lying on piles of dead presidents
People still dying no sign to the end of it
F*ck censorship trying to say what I wanna
A dirty old man still smokin marijuana
Trying to live my life free of misery and drama
But you can't escape fate when you got a date with karma
I'm a father to my kids a husband to my wife
Probably the old things that I've ever done right
When I take a step back and look at my life
Gotta say I'm pretty happy that I'm even alive
I should have died in '05 gettin high in the streets
Somehow I survived by the skin of my teeth
Not a pastor trying to preach or a master trying to teach
I'm just trying to make peace with the person that is me

One day I'll know my faith though
All my days I spread no hate though
Just rising up that's what I'm made for
I'll spread some love some love some more

Now I know what it's like in this life to feel low
Like out in the cold with no place to go
When you've lost all hope feelin meant to be alone
And wishin that your heart was carved out of stone
Yo I've been there before so I know what's it's like
When you can't take more and nothin feels right
Poppin pills galore just hoping that you die
Then every single mornin you still open up your eyes
Like why can someone please explain
And the do's every day and it's always the same
Another brother shot another sister raped
Were we born to this place just to suffer through the pain
Will it ever change no one can say for sure
We're aware of the disease but we can't find a cure
People terrified to speak but it takes more than words
It's terrible to think that it's only gettin worse

One day I'll know my faith though
All my days I spread no hate though
Just rising up that's what I'm made for
I'll spread some love some love some more

Never thought that I would make it past 35
From the depths of my depression and struggle with suicide
I've imagined so many ways that I could possibly die
And I'd be lyin if I said I haven't learned to be fine with the thought of it
The idea of nonexistence has driven me to understand the concept of resistance
In an instant your life can be irreversibly changed
Remaining present and aware can help a person maintain
I found perspective through the darkness when the lights seem to fade
By recognizing the amazing set of friends that I've made
In that moment of change I learned to channel my rage
Now the music is imbued with all my pleasure and pain
And when the rain starts to shine the sun rays are aligned
It takes patience of fine a peaceful place in my mind
That's why I'm takin my time to craft these beats and these rhymes
So let's rise I guess I've learned to survive
Come on

One day I'll know my faith though
All my days I spread no hate though
Just rising up that's what I'm made for
I'll spread some love some love some more
