Life's a race, and we all mature

Revisiting the past, it all just makes me believe
That there is more in life that I know I could be and achieve
I was the kind of person that would rather give than receive
And I'd push away unwanted wanted help until I'd bleed

When I feel lost inside I just hold onto the memories
And though I get sad and depressed I know there's still hope in these
People around me, so I make them believe
In themselves, even though I know I can't believe in me

I hope that one day I can find a way to have faith in myself
But lately, everything's been going up except for my mental health
And no one cares 'bout the pain I go through so it's up on the shelf
Till I can take the time to learn that I can help myself

I work of my own accord, I can only afford to focus
I'm always ignored, so I go record and hope someone'll notice
Anxiety torn, I'm feeling worn, I hope a door opens
I wish that I'll soar, I wish I score, I know my life ain't hopeless

Never been one for revenge
I just grab the pen, and I write till I'm better again
All the people that surround me are friends
And I know I don't have to defend
But I still keep up my fence
Even though it's such a ridiculous trend
Everything that I go through
