Looking in the mirror gets hard
When you can't recognize the person looking back
Did my face get rounder?
My eyes, a bit wider?
And have I always looked so sad?
I disappoint myself again and again
When I keep promising I'll change
And I guess that I have
But not in the improving way
I slowly start to reject my own skin
You look so comfortable in the body you're in
How do you make it look so easy
To love yourself so freely?
I go back and forth, status changing each day
My mirror dictates if I'm hiding away today
There's nothing worse than being self aware
When you know that you are
Tearing yourself down
Did my skin get paler?
My hair, a bit longer?
And have I always had this permanent frown?
I slowly start to reject my own skin
