Everybody has a journal
Penned by angels' hands
With everything that person's done
The good things and the bad
You can't stop the pen's recording
No earthly power can
I pray the good Lord will show mercy
When He reads it in the end

No you can't stop the ink and pen
And the pages fill so fast
So live today and every day
As though they'll be your last
Because you've got just a little while
Until your life has flown
You'll know this life is over
When they lay your journal down

Each church has its own journal too
Don't act so surprised
Because every congregation
Has ears and hands and eyes
We're in this life together
As the bees within a hive
So try your best to do your part
While we're all still alive

We can't stop the ink and pen
And the pages fill so fast

All nations have their journals
But they haven't got a clue
And God evaluates them
By the things they say and do
He sees a country's morals
Its don'ts, and won'ts and dos
And our country's just reflecting
The sins of me and you
