Working out life as I live my days
Wearied and blessed by mysterious ways
I go the well but the well is dry
Waiting on rain from a clear-blue sky
Singing old hymns walking down the road
Colors were warm but the lines were cold
I lost myself in their siren song
Now that I'm found I don't sing along
I really hoped that you would see
I thought that love would change your mind
You had the chance
You could have set the captives free
But you kept the faith
Shallow, smug and blind
Walking away from the castle ground
Over the bridge where I laid me down
All those years that I lived in that fading light
Trying hard to believe it could still be right
Now I'm traveling on 'til it's out of sight
Now I'll follow the road where the river flows
Where does it lead? No one really knows
