Grant, the 18th president, he was He tried to heal a nation, but, too many fought his cause Grant ran and won the presidency In 1868 Promoted Reconstruction And for blacks to integrate Though honest yet gullible Scandals plagued his presidency Black Friday, Whiskey Ring, and more His choice of men were untrustworthy He established Yellowstone The first park in the nation Reduced debt, taxes and tariffs But, couldn't stop segregation '77, Grant left DC Travelled the world with his wife He made some bad investments But, his memoirs improved their life But, years of drinking took their toll In 1885 July 23rd, it was The last day he was alive His legacy, he saved The Union in the Civil War He's on the $50 bill Thus, in memory evermore
