North Bend, Ohio, 1833 Benjamin was born to the Harrison's on August 20 He grew up, attended college, and in '52, was done In '53, he wed Caroline They had two children, Russell, and Mary, the next in line Ben studied law, then, practiced till things heated up in '61 Was a commanding officer in the Civil War A general when it came to an end Went back to his law practice, was a great orator Politics, his calling, said his friends Well, he made Senator in '81 Then, in '88, for president, he chose to run The race for the 23rd president, Benjamin Harrison won Ben signed the Sherman Antitrust Act But, Congress spent a billion for Vets and business, in fact High prices from high tariffs, it was, that ended his presidency He left the White House in '93 The year before, his wife, Caroline died from TB In '96, Ben wed his niece, Mary, and had child number three Ben traveled, lectured, wrote articles up to the last But, pneumonia, he got in '01 At his Indianapolis home, on March 13th, he passed Surrounded by his daughters and son Well, his legacy's the steel Navy Six new states, antitrust, monetary policy Benjamin lived his life and served the nation with integrity
