Once upon our world From what I can recall There was no summer and no spring No winter and no fall "What future holds?" Some say And most, forget "today" But all we had was "now", there Not even yesterday We never thought of time Or fear sometime we'll die It was our heart that would decide If it was day or night We treated it with care And had a rightfull share Of common feelings, love and warmth, Of sorrow and despair And it was beating rhythmically Within our humble home Inside the tree's foundations Branches above, our dome Standing there still and baren Nesting the worms and pest Brimming with fuzz only when Nomads alighted to eat and rest We shared our daily duties We both had parts to fit I'd tell the tales and sing the psalms Prayed dancing to heart's beat While she was on the manual side She loved to break a sweat Carried the water everyday Took all that she could get So she was favouring the ground Carring for all the roots While I was staring skywards Waiting the blooming loots And once she has harvested Weariness overgrew I played sweet tunes with the guitar While she prepared the brew Made from dried leaves, seeds and fruits Grinded along with nuts With water from the river down Distilled through her warm hands It was sour, thick and bittersweet Tasting so full and round And after, she could use what's left To fertilize the ground Then came the night and she asked me "what?" I told her "I don't see" "Why everything in our garden blooms Apart from the great tree..?" "I mean, you water all the roots I'm singing to its heart" "But its old fingers stay bare and crooked It's breaking me apart" She said "I really do not know Maybe there's too much care" "But yes, I sometimes think of it And it does feel unfair" She turned around and fell asleep But sleep ain't came for me Our heart felt somewhat distant Beating arrhythmically Morning refused to come Our tasks remained undone We tried to fake joy or crack a smile Hoping to fool the sun She took the initiative And down the path she went She filled her pots after she swam There, by the riverbed With silent determination She came back through the night She watered all the garden plants Leaving the great tree dry Again and again water she did bring She carried on and on And while she cherished our small plot Her "great tree love" seemed gone And when we had our tasteful brew I put down the guitar There was no thanking for our goods No singing to the heart It was a moment or a year I surely cannot tell But I woke up that starry night By a tremendous yell Stood by her side and looked above Where she was pointing out And way up, on a high branch A bud had newly sprout I felt the warmness in my chest Came up, behind my face Parallel to the rising sun That dawned a brand new day Then we embraced the great tree's trunk In repentance, we assumed And when the first rays touched the tree The little bud had bloomed And we have never witnessed Such beauty in all creation Watching in awe the flower's response To morning's salutation Then, she went to the river Afterwards, propped her tools What if we lived a miracle? There were also rules Yet, I just couldn't take my eyes Away from this nature's wonder Sat in the ground, laid back And all i did was ponder "How does it feel? How does it smell? How does it taste, maybe? How could I ever reach up there And hold it like a baby?" She smiled when i shared my thoughts Said "come on now, this can't be" And day gave way to a night once more So black we could barely see It was the longest night for sure To cry out and beseech For, what is the use of wonders If they are out of reach? "Obsession turned you blind" she said "This garden needs the sun" "I guess even the miracle Will soon become undone" Her voice was raw and thunderous Brought tears I couldn't bare Thats when she turned and grabbed the tree Pulling herself up there And it was a collosal task The bloom hang from the sky Scrapping on thorns, ripping her skin An act, reason defying Until she rode the highest branch And with her mighty hand She pulled the only flower And shout out for the sun She threw the flower down, to me And started to descent With aching body and deepening wounds Struggling towards the end I picked it up inhaled its scent And felt alive again My lips upon its wetness My fingers down its stem Although I held the flower The sun refused to rise And then I heard her heavy breath And met her piercing eyes As she was laying there weakened Bleeding and spitting bile Reality came and struck me hard How could I be so vile I let "the wonder" underfoot And runned to her in tears A being so strong and precious Being fragile, woke my fears " Im really sorry for my greed My urge just fogged my mind Please now, let me mend your wounds Let's get ourselves inside" For once i had to carry The water by myself I washed her aching body And laid her on her bed But she kept trembling weakened Her wounds just wouldn't heal "I have to make the brew or else Her fate will soon be sealed" I runned outdoors seeking supplies Something that I could grind But the night was so stretched and cold Garden had mostly died I almost tripped on the miracle I stopped and felt so assured It was this moment that I knew Why it had occurred I ripped it apart instantly Without a second thought And put in the grinder You'd do the same! or not? I used my hands the way she did While making the holy brew My palms were burning, I screamed in pain But I was done and through Her lips were dry and barely moved To take the sip at first But the nectars' taste reminded her She had to slake her thirst She drunk it all and without a word She fell into deep sleep I watched the bowl at my aching hands The "wonder" remains, steeped I dragged myself outside I took a deep wide breath I threw the remains on the ground Right there, where she had bled It was the pain that woke me up And the sun that had filled our room Yes, it was morning once again Or maybe it was noon I raised my hand against the sun Just to be able to see But all I saw was her empty bed I thought "how can this be?" Despite the numbness on my limbs I walked myself outside She was sitting silent where she bled Where I threw the chips last night And she was holding something there That grew out of the ground I tried to talk but she went .. "Shhh!! you also hear that sound?" It was a mumbling screeching noise Incomprehensible words Coming out of this piece of dirt Scaring me to the core She held the mud and rushed indoors And if you can believe it I think i saw it budge in her lap It seemed like it was breathing She pushed the earthenware off our table To place the clay instead And she began caressing it Shaping it like a head And from it's forehead a tentacle grew Responding to her haptics She just kept working with her hands Looked sensually ecstatic I felt I was collapsing Along with sanity Our heart was pumping intangibly Chaos and profanity A scream echoed to the east and west Reaching far north and south For now the headlike sculpture Was given a new mouth Once upon our world A breathing piece of art Inhaled to speak its first words "Connect me to the heart"
