A morning as dreary as yesterday's sin
The moon she has painted her light on our skin
Hoping it won't wash away, in the sun

And as we spoil in the muck and the mire
A harlequin laughs in our faces as he conspires
And thinks he has won

Just as we find ourselves starting to spin
A harlequin dances between us again
Matching our steps as we fall to the floor
Then tipping his hat as he slips out the door
Leaving us to pick ourselves up from the floor
One more last time

The Sun he keeps making himself hard to find
The gloom and the clouds give him corners to hide, so he hides
And keeps out of sight

The harlequin dances and spits on our grave
Thinking that he's finally put us away for good, and it's understood

That just as we find ourselves starting to spin
A harlequin dances between us again
Matching our steps as we fall to the floor
Then tipping his hat, he just slips out the door
Leaving us to pick ourselves up from the floor
One more last time...

And just when he finally thought he would win
Our Harlequin weeps as we dance around him
Moving so sweetly he can't keep apace
We strangle him slowly with every mistake that he makes
Cause our love has won
