There was a young boy who grew up in the east
Caught up in the gangsta life, rollin with the beast
Came from a broken home, chillen in the streets
Thought he needed guns so he’s grippin on the heat
Addicted to adrenaline, smoking and drinking became his medicine
Raised in the heartbeat, a product of Connecticut
Dealing with his issues, had a problem with the government
Harassed and beat down by the police
That gave him a cold heart, he never had peace

Didn’t even know that his love was from free
Spiritually was blind and he couldn’t even see

Seeing his mom cry every single night
Thinking bout hard times, he barely made the night
Just thinking one day, he’ll be gone to take a flight
Till Jesus came, and he took away his pain
Gave him a new mind and cleansed him like the rain
Then he started to see the little light
It gave him the courage to go on and win the fight
Telling his friends about Jesus Christ
To be filled with the Spirit is the way to living life
Jesus bloodshed, he paid the price

He took the bread then received life
Still struggling with the things he had at home
There was a lot of things his heart couldn’t hold
Till one day he surrendered to the peace

Grew up in the south, riddled with doubt
In her teens kicked out, deserted the house
What’s life all about, she thought to herself
Got on her knees, cried out for help
As time when by, it started to sink in
Life got hard, ended up drinkin’
Started thinking, I ain’t got no worth
All I know is pain and hurt, better dead in a hearse
So she turned to the streets, started hanging with freaks
Got tatted from her head all the way down to her feet
Pan-handled on the corner just for something to eat
As the boys stopped by just to get in her sheets
Started selling herself, thought the money would help
But she spent it on narcotics cause she liked how it felt
Started shooting up drugs, all in search for some love
Until arrested gun trafficking outside of a club
As she sat up in the prison, livin’ in hell
The Lord in all his mercy came to her in the cell
Started reading the word, amazed at what she had heard
Found her life in Jesus Christ, became as free as a bird
Now she’s crispy and clean, her face glistens and gleams
Married with a kid, she met the man of her dreams
Highly esteemed, redeemed from running with fiends
The whole time the Lord was working in her behind the scenes
