In the back yard, my old man is burning leaves, in a garbage can
Kids riding bikes behind a jeep, chasing fog, mosquito man
Mom hanging laundry on the clothesline, in the early afternoon
Big yellow buses, flashing lights, bringing kids back home from school

Ice cream truck, rolling down the street, ringing bells, what a beautiful sound
Better get yourself back home for dinner, fore the sun goes down

Built a treehouse out in the woods with a couple kids, my old gang
Had some magazines and cigarettes, we just go up there and hang
Then we ride our bikes over to the drive in, watch the movie thru the fence
Sometimes we jump over, grab a speaker and listen in

I had a bb gun, one time I tried to shoot out a streetlight
I pulled the trigger and all the insides went flying out into the night
Ride down to the old canal, had a rope and tire hanging from a tree
Somebody would give me a push, I go swinging out, jump into the stream

Got to be friends, with a lonely kid, his dad owned the local bar
We would rip off pints of jim beam and then go drink 'em in the park

Go down to the railroad, put a bunch of pennies on the tracks
Big ol trains go flying by, pull the shirt right off your back
One day alone, caught in a lightning storm, hiding under a tree
Scared to death, praying to god, mom and dad would come and rescue me

Ride my bike to the gas station, get my old man some cigarettes
Drop a quarter in the vending machine, pull the lever, L&M
My best friend dad died, his mother went away for a while to France
We had some parties, bunch of teenage kids, drinking beer and smoking grass
