New Years Eve and I walk downtown
It's the same old thing every single year
Friends and family all gather around for the great countdown but this time you're not here
We had that big fight on Saturday night
It's shame we couldn't work things out this time

I whisper as I take down the Christmas lights
On Christmas Eve we went caroling
Your stomach hurt 'cause you ate too much pie
And we spent Christmas Day together

But now you're out painting the town, when you should be here with me
