But then I look into my eye and I spy a lie
I'm just not as fly a guy as I try to be
Or pretend to be in the end I end up always being me - same old me
But it's not the end you have in mind
And so I find a different kind of power at work in me
To help me be defined by who I've been designed to be

I'm confident of this
That he who began a good work in me
Will carry it on to completion

I want my heart and soul be found in you
My love abound for you and for those around me too
I want my emptiness filled with your righteousness and be blameless in your eyes
And when I have a set back I just need to step back and get back on track
Cause even when I learn I've built on sand I still remain in your hand

I pursue His mission
But here's my admission
It is sometimes out of selfish ambition
And I'm sad to confess that the great commission is regrettably a regular omission
But then I make it my aim to tame my shame
To be proud about the gospel, and be loud about the gospel
And to shout out loud about the one who came
